Viraj Tyagi is the CEO of eGov Foundation, a societal mission to ensure that all Indians get easy to access, reliable and transparent services from their local governments. He is passionate about the impact of a ‘jugalbandi’ of public digital platforms, policies and ecosystem in solving complex societal problems at scale and speed. Viraj believes that digital transformation is not as much about ‘digitising & automation’ as it is about humans, improving quality of life, removing barriers and creating trust between various actors. eGov is currently working with 14 state governments and 30+ ecosystem partners in 2400+ towns and cities. eGov’s open platform -DIGIT- enables solutions that deliver fast, efficient and paperless delivery of services in areas like sanitation, obtaining permits, new connections, municipal taxes, complaint resolution etc. Prior to joining the impact sector, Viraj was an entrepreneur and corporate leader with wide ranging experience in building large businesses in Europe and India. Viraj is a serial entrepreneur and an active investor in start-ups and mentor to entrepreneurs. He was the CEO and co-founder of NettPositive, one of the first Big Data and Analytics companies in India. He is also a co-founder of the fintech start-up, Finnable. He is on the board of several start-ups and companies. Viraj is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIM-B) and Indian Institute of technology (IIT – BHU).
