Srinivas Alavilli is Head of Civic Participation in Janaagraha. Srinivas is a strong believer in systems like ward committees that enable citizen participation and bridge the gap between politicians and citizens in local governance. His team in Janaagraha is working on empowering citizens and city councils; participatory budget, capacity building of citizens in slums and much more. Srinivas also drives Janaagraha’s pioneering civic tech platform IChangeMyCity, used by millions of citizens in thousands of cities including Swachh Bharat Misison. Srinivas and his colleagues at Janaagraha created a forum called City Politics, to bring together individuals, civil society organizations, politicians across India to raise the awareness and make collective demands for urban governance reform. Earlier, Srinivas co founded Citizens for Bengaluru, a public pressure group that led the #SteelFlyoverBeda and other public campaigns demanding public transport, sustainable mobility and participatory governance. Srinivas was a software professional before joining Janaagraha, with a long stint in Sun Microsystems and Oracle in California and Bengaluru.
