Ace Bollywood actor - Kunal Kapoor is the Co-founder of Ketto.org, Asia’s largest online crowdfunding platform which fuels a wide variety of sustainable causes, right from fundraising for start-ups to fundraising for medical purposes. Over the years, Ketto has helped more than 2 lakh people start fundraisers and raised over Rs. 1100 crores of funds for their causes. Kunal was born in Mumbai to a Punjabi family originating from Amritsar. He is a renowned film and theatre actor, who has garnered love and success from his critically acclaimed movies such as Rang De Bansanti, Gold and Aja Nachle. He's also super clever and has a heart of pure, sunshiny gold which landed him into social work. Before starting Ketto, Kunal was associated with various NGOs such as Save the Children, Akshara Center, and Mijwan Welfare Society. During his time there he witnessed the challenges faced by NGOs and social entrepreneurs. He came across people who wanted to donate and contribute but had a limited understanding of the right avenues. So he came up with the idea of creating a platform that provided people a chance to connect and support different charities from anywhere in the world. So together with Varun Sheth and Zaheer Adenwala, Kunal launched Ketto.org, short for ‘Key to Tomorrow’, on August 15, 2012, and the platform has since become a carrier of change for many. Kunal has been a constant support to Ketto’s medical, social, arts, sports, education, and creative campaigns. He has demonstrated instrumental growth and support for Ketto even in unprecedented times like COVID 19. Under his leadership, Ketto has partnered with Amazon and GoDaddy to empower local entrepreneurs and strengthen India’s local business ecosystem. The partnership was designed to support local Indian businesses recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling them to start crowdfunding campaigns on Ketto and raise funds to support their essential business expenses. Ketto also partnered with Bollywood actor Sonu Sood to set up a 24*7 helpline number for the medical care and treatment of the children.
