Anu Madgavkar is a Partner of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) and McKinsey Company.<br>MGI is the global business and economics research arm of Mckinsey. Anu�s work at MGI focuses<br>on inclusive growth and technology for development, including income inequality, women in the<br>workforce, and jobs, growth and productivity in emerging economies.<br>Anu has led a two year-long research collaboration with the Government of India�s Ministry of<br>Electronics and IT and a host of private sector organisations, to develop a cross-cutting vision for<br>digital opportunities in India. Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad released this as India�s Trillion Dollar<br>Opportunity in February 2019, and an MGI report follows. Globally, Anu led MGI�s recent research<br>on Digital Identification, including a paper released at Davos by the Prime Minister of Estonia and<br>Nandan Nilekani, architect of India�s Aadhaar program, with a follow on report (April 2019).<br>Other MGI research efforts led by Anu include People on the move (research on cross-border<br>migration), Poorer than their parents? (a study of income inequality), The power of parity series (a<br>body of work on women in the labour force), From poverty to empowerment (a seminal piece of<br>research on how India can achieve minimum acceptable living standards for all), and India's<br>economic geography (an assessment of the potential of India�s states, cities and clusters).<br>Anu is an active thought partner to business and government leaders around the world. She has<br>spoken at multiple global forums, including the Clinton Global Initiative, the UN ECOSOC Council,<br>the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, Chatham House, the Global Parliament of Mayors, the<br>International Organisation for Migration, the UN Global Migration Group, Conference Board�s Asia<br>Pacific Council, and the United Nations High Level Panel on Women�s Economic Empowerment.<br>She is a frequent contributor to stakeholders such as the World Bank and IFC, the IMF, DFID, NITI<br>Aayog and various government ministries. Currently Anu serves on the National Economic Council<br>of the Confederation of Industry in India, and advisor to NITI Aayog�s women�s economic<br>empowerment initiatives.<br>Previously in her career at McKinsey, Anu co-led the firm�s Financial Institutions practice in Asia.<br>She holds a degree in economics and statistics, from St. Xavier�s College, University of Bombay,<br>and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
