How have women and individuals from gender minorities shaped digital and physical shared spaces?
Women and gender minorities have not always been welcome in social shared spaces, missing opportunities that communities provide to bond and grow together. This is changing, both from within and without as trail blazers make their way into closed spaces, both physically and in digital media. They have been claiming and reshaping their homes, community spaces, and storming social media. New voices are emerging, and both what and how individuals share is evolving. Whether through feminist stand-up comedy or slam poetry these individuals are leveraging the language of creativity and protest to upturn social norms. This panel looks at how women and gender minorities have evolved in their approach to claiming social shared spaces, and what challenges persist.
