ONI is co-hosting a series of fireside chats and panel discussions themed around ‘Equitable Cities’ for India’s next half billion. The pandemic, more than anything, has explicitly exposed how inhospitable cities can be to vulnerable sections of the urban population. It has thrown open the deep-rootedness of inequalities within Indian cities. Now more than ever, it is important that our cities move towards more transparency in governance, better planning, and equitable growth. The track will focus on how we can take this opportunity arising from the pandemic to build equitable cities, making them more inclusive, and fixing the existing imbalances.
With the development sector grappling with shrinking resources, the way forward requires a coming together of all stakeholders - nonprofits, government, corporates, foundations, academia and philanthropists. Engaging them in a dialogue on the most pressing issues of our time.
